ICS300 Course for Emergency Preparedness

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) recently held a three-day Incident Command Training course (ICS 300) in collaboration with Oil Spill Response Ltd. Singapore (OSRL) at its headquarters in Jerudong. Over 20 participants comprising employees from BGC and the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD) participated in the course.

The course focused on familiarization of the ICS process, learning the importance of theoretical and practical aspects of handling emergency responses and in particular oil spill response.

As part of the 3-day training, a tabletop exercise was carried out to test participants’ emergency preparedness and planning.

BGC Launches Children’s Book at Pesta Buku Brunei

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) successfully launched it’s first and special 25th Anniversary commemorative children’s book entitled, ‘My Hero on the Open Sea’.

The book launch was held during the Pesta Buku Brunei organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Brunei (DBPB), held recently at ICC, Berakas which was graced by the Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, Yang Berhormat Awang Hj Nazmi bin Hj Mohamad.

‘My Hero on the Open Sea’ is written and illustrated by two local Bruneians to commemorate the company’s 25th anniversary of establishment and spark interest in seafaring careers. The book aims to highlight the life of seafarers, as they journey across continents to deliver precious cargoes for Brunei Darussalam while depicting glimpses of the precarious nature of the ocean. At the same time, the book also teaches the importance of safety and the role that seafarers play in preserving the maritime environment to safeguard our future.

The book will be available to the public soon. So, keep an eye out for the announcement!

BGC Management Visit

BGC’s A-Class vessel, Amali, recently received a visit from the BSP, Brunei LNG and BGC Management Team, the first official visit post-COVID-19.

During the ship visit, the team engaged with the Senior Ship Management team to discuss operations and safety. The visit also offered a chance to visit various sections of the ship, including the Bridge, Engine Room, Galley and Cargo Control Room.
