Management Visits to A-Class Fleet

The BGC Management team recently held a series of visits to the A-Class fleet, AMALI, AMADI, ARKAT, and AMANI.

The visits provided an opportunity for open dialogue, the sharing of experiences, and cultivating a sense of community with our colleagues onboard.

The ships also welcomed some family members, marking a significant moment that fostered appreciation and support for our dedicated seafarers.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Captains, Chief Engineers and everyone on board for hosting the ship visits and providing our staff and their families with a warm and welcoming experience.

BGC’s 25th Anniversary Walk-A-Hunt

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) topped-off the year-long 25th Anniversary celebrations with a special 25th Anniversary Walk-A-Hunt combined with BGC’s Family Day at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) on Sunday, 12 November 2023.

Present as the guest of honor was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II. Other invited guests during the event were senior government representatives and management and staff of BGC.

The event was a culmination to BGC’s 25th year-long Silver Jubilee celebrations aimed to foster close ties between staff, families and the wider community. A total of 80 teams comprising around 500 people participated. The event also included a short 2.5km fun walk for those who did not register for the Walk-A-Hunt.

At the same time, BGC also launched its 25th Anniversary Commemorative Gallery Showcase at the Brunei Energy Hub, Dermaga Diraja. The public will have the opportunity to explore the exhibit throughout the whole month of November 2023.

Fire Safety and Prevention Awareness

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) recently held a Fire Safety and Prevention Awareness on Tuesday, 10th October 2023 at its headquarters in Jerudong in collaboration with the Brunei Fire Rescue Department (BFRD).

The course aimed to educate individuals and raise awareness to prevent and handle fire-related emergencies effectively. A total of 20 participants comprising employees from BGC participated in the workshop.

At BGC, we ensure the safety of our workplace is of utmost importance and that everyone should come together to prioritize fire safety and prevention.

BGC Mental Health Day Celebration

In conjunction with World Mental Health Day on 10 October 2023 which carries the theme “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right,” Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) participated in a Mental Health Symposium 2023 organized by the Ministry of Health.

At BGC, we value mental health and wellness, recognizing that the impact extends beyond measurable human costs. We believe that prioritizing mental health is crucial for the overall well-being of our staff, as it helps foster a workplace that promotes and support their mental well-being.

Our dedication to mental health aligns with the Brunei’s Vision 2035 that is to establish a healthy and prosperous nation and the Brunei Darussalam Mental Health Action Plan 2022-2025.

AMANI Time Charter Party Extension Agreement Signing Ceremony

Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) marked an important milestone with the signing of an extension agreement for the “AMANI Time Charter Party Agreement” with Brunei LNG on Thursday, 5 October 2023 at BGC Office in Jerudong.

The extension agreement was signed on behalf of BGC by Captain Abdul Mateen Abdurrahman Liew, Managing Director of BGC, and for Brunei LNG, Yang Mulia Hajah Farida binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, Managing Director and CEO.

With the signing of extension agreement, the time-charter party services, provided by LNG Carrier “Amani” will be extended for a further ten years effective November 2024.

Captain Abdul Mateen in his welcoming remarks stated, “This event marks a significant milestone in our partnership as it serves as a powerful symbol of the profound trust and collaboration shared between BGC and Brunei LNG. The continuation of this agreement is of utmost importance, as it plays a significant role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and sustainable maritime transportation of LNG to Brunei Darussalam’s valued customers internationally”.

In attendance to witness the signing as Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo Bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister (Energy) at The Prime Minister’s Office.

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) celebrated the refinancing of its esteemed fleet vessels, Arkat and Amali, on Tuesday, 26th September 2023 at the BGC Office, in Jerudong. The event was to commemorate a significant milestone in BGC’s history as it marks the first occasion that a local bank, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), is the sole financier of approximately USD 149M for both vessels.

BGC Managing Director, Captain Abdul Mateen Abdurrahman Liew in his welcoming remarks stated, “The refinancing of the Arkat and Amali vessels makes a significant contribution to the local economy. Not only does this agreement benefit the nation as a whole, but it also aligns with Brunei’s Vision 2035, which aims to establish a dynamic and sustainable economy for the country. This financing is in line with the aspirations set forth in Brunei’s Vision 2035.”

Present at the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri, Managing Director and CEO of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and representatives from Mitsubishi Corporation, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Brunei LNG and other stakeholders.
