John Cook
Managing Director
John Cook joined BGC as Managing Director in March 2017, prior to which he was based in Perth, Western Australia firstly as HSSE & SP Manager for the Browse FLNG Project as part of the Browse FLNG Development Integrated Delivery Team and thereafter as Senior Project Manager with Shell Tankers Australia Pty Ltd (STAPL).
Since he started out his seafaring career as a Marine Engineer in 1982, John has spent the past 35 years in various operational and management roles, predominantly in the areas of LNG ship operations and construction. These included Fleet Manager for the Nakilat LNG Fleet, and Marine & Technical Assurance Manager of North West Shelf Shipping Services Company (NWSSSC). John is Chartered as both an Engineer and Marine Engineer, and holds a BSc (Hons) in mechanical engineering and MBA from Open University as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Law.

Hui Ling Koh
Finance Manager
Hui Ling joined BGC in 2002, leading and developing its Finance Dept from just financial administration to now include functions such as Insurance and Treasury, Planning and Budgeting, and Governance, Risk and Assurance. She was a member of the project teams in the acquisition BGC’s A class vessels in 2007 and in 2011 where her responsibilities included commercial evaluation of the project and also the tendering of financing for the projects.
Hui Ling is currently focal point for Brunei LNG, managing the Charter Party Agreements on behalf of BGC & BST, and is also a member of BGC’s tender board. Prior to joining BGC, she worked for 4 years as an external auditor and local tax specialist in Ernst & Young Brunei, followed by a couple of years as a Corporate Accountant in Royal Brunei Airlines and Global Evergreen. The latter being a management company managing the affairs of Amedeo Corp. which was in receivership.
Hui Ling holds an Accounting Degree from Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, and is a Certified Practicing Accountant by the Australian Society of CPAs.

Diana Matzin
Contracts & Procurement Manager
Diana joined BGC in June 2014 as the Contracts & Procurement Manager where she is custodian for Contracts and Procurement process.
She started her career in CP as a graduate development trainee in Brunei Shell and Brunei LNG in Procurement, inventory and contract engineering for Operation and maintenance. She later on progressed as a Category Focal point and Supply Chain Executive for Marine before moving on as Commercial advisor and local business development adviser for Brunei Shell. Before leaving Brunei Shell, she was the Supply Chain lead for corporate services logging 15 years total experience in CP.
Diana holds a degree in Human resource management and Business law and later took LLM in Business law in the UK. During employment she also completed a Professional diploma in Purchasing and Supply (CiPS).

Captain Mohd Shahbrin Ibrahim
QHSSE Manager cum Designated Person Ashore (DPA)
Captain Shahbrin joined BGC as a Deck Cadet for Brunei Shell Tankers in 2003. He is presently holding the role of QHSSE Manager cum Designated Person Ashore (DPA).
He was promoted as Master in 2017 after attaining his Class 1 Master Certificate of Competency in March 2016 after which he took command of the LNG Carrier AMANI. He managed the Ship-Shore Emergency Tsunami Exercise for AMALI in September 2018 and was Incident Commander during the BGC-STASCo Emergency Exercise `Piccolo’ in October 2018.
Captain Shahbrin took delivery of the two newbuilds ARKAT and AMALI from DSME Okpo Shipyard, South Korea in 2011. He was later assigned as LNG Fleet Operations Superintendent for STASCo Fleet Group 3/ Brunei LNG Fleet in 2018 after completing a short stint in STASCo, London as DPA support.
Captain Shahbrin currently holds an HND in Nautical Science, NVQ Level 3 Marine Vessel Operations.

Steve Burns
Fleet Manager
Following a sea career up to the rank of Chief Engineer, Steve has served in many shore side positions including Superintendent, Fleet Training Manager, Deputy Fleet Manager, Manager TOE, Ship Construction Manager (Qatargas) and Marine Support Division Manager (Qatargas), returning to the STASCO in June 2015 to his current position as Manager for Fleet Group 3 (Brunei Fleet of Five LNG Carriers).
As Fleet Manager ensures that STASCO-managed vessels under his direct control are managed and operated in full compliance with all applicable Flag State, Group and Company requirements. He is accountable for the day to day operations of the ships under his direct control, ensuring that safe, reliable and cost effective maritime solutions are delivered to customers.
He is also responsible for the effective management and delivery of the Ship Management Transition Agreement, between STASCO and Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC).

Joe Chan
Legal Manager
Joe spent most of his career as a public prosecutor specializing in the field of intellectual property and commercial crime. He was lead in those areas in the Criminal Justice Division serving in the rank of Deputy Public Prosecutor before joining BGC in his current position as Senior Legal Counsel, Line Manager for the Legal Department on August 2012.
As LC, he ensures that BGC’s legal rights are protected contractually in dealings with its stakeholders. Acts as legal adviser to all business functions in BGC. Joe is also accountable for corporate governance in BGC ensuring that the M&A of the Company is complied with.
As Company Secretary, he also acts as a focal point to shareholder reps. in BGC. Joe is responsible for the effective management of legal claims by BGC against third parties, especially large claims.

Bailah Sulaiman
Information & Technology Manager
Bailah Sulaiman is a Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Secondee joining BGC as the IT Manager in February 2019. She started off her career in BSP as an IT Graduate Development Trainee in 2004 where she spent 15 years in various IT roles such as Senior SAP BSJV Business Analyst Lead for Contracts; Procurement & Logistics and Service Lead for the BSJV Service Desk; and Onsite Services to name a few where she experienced working under both Business Application Management (BAM) and Business Infrastructure Management (BIM) in the BSP IT Department.
Prior to joining the oil and gas industry, she worked in the Banking sector as a Financial Consultant in Barclays Bank, UK and Standard Chartered Brunei, and in IT with the Brunei EGNC ITSS under the Ministry of Finance.
