BGC Celebrates Employees at Bollywood-Theme Night

After a two-year hiatus, Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) resumed its Annual Dinner celebrations with a spectacular Bollywood-themed night at the Indera Samudra Hall, The Empire Brunei.

Following this year’s theme, the hall was beautifully decorated with an array of colors–capturing the ambience of a Bollywood setting, filled with eclectic rangoli designs, and famous movie posters. The best part of the event, of course, were our people, who came wearing dazzling Bollywood attire, worthy of famous Bollywood stars.

The night began with a showstopping performance by the Lively Dancers, who played through numerous Bollywood hits to enliven the mood and prime everybody for a night full of splendour and entertainment.

BGC’s Managing Director, Captain Abdul Mateen, in his welcoming remarks expressed his sincere appreciation to the entire BGC family for gracing the ceremony, something that he felt was long-overdue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also took the opportunity to celebrate notable BGC milestones and to commend everyone for their hard work and dedication, especially for powering through the year to overcome various setbacks and challenges.

The biggest highlight of the event was our Long-Service Awards ceremony, which saw a total of 43 recipients awarded for reaching their respective milestones of 20, 15, and 10 years of service. BGC is overjoyed to award so many deserving employees for their valuable contributions, unconditional support, and loyalty to the company, for they are responsible for shaping BGC into what it is today.

It would not be a BGC Annual Dinner without spectacular performances lined up by the BGC employees. Three teams from various departments took to the stage to deliver a variety of skits and group performances to dazzle the audience.

In closing, we wish to echo the words of our MD, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Let’s continue to work together and strive for greater excellence in all that we do.”

BGC Coastal Cleanup Resumes Post Pandemic

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) as part of its Clean Rivers, Clean Seas initiative, organised its eighth beach cleanup campaign this year, in support of the world’s largest single day volunteer effort to clean up the earth’s beaches, lakes, and rivers under the International Coastal Cleanup Day.

A total of twenty stakeholders comprising of educational institutions, companies, and government agencies took part in the beach cleanup at the Jerudong Beach, on Saturday, 17th September 2022.

Captain Abdul Mateen bin Abdurrahman Liew, BGC’s Managing Director, expressed in his welcoming remarks his appreciation to all stakeholders for their valiant contributions to support this environmental campaign, as it clearly demonstrates the care and solidarity within our Bruneian community. He also emphasised on the importance of raising greater awareness on the impact of human activity to waste pollution, which threaten both marine life and even human beings.

BGC is proud to be able to work with all the school children, as it is imperative that they gain the necessary exposure towards the severity of waste pollution at the beach. It is our hope that these children, as the future of our generation, will continue to work together in support of this cause, and to take this opportunity to spread greater awareness to their friends and families.

A total of 1.2 tonnes of rubbish were collected from Jerudong Beach. BGC would like to extend its appreciation to all the relevant parties for making this year’s beach cleanup campaign a huge success. We look forward to greater participation next year. Happy International Coastal Cleanup Day.
