BGC Gives Back To Those In Need

On 25th April 2022, Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) continued its Project Amali social investment initiative by organising a donation drive-through event at its BGC Headquarters for underprivileged orphans residing in Kampong Jerudong.

Present to lead the event was Pg Shamhary Pg Dato Paduka Hj Mustapha, BGC Managing Director, accompanied by Hj Kharul bin Hj Lakat, Jerudong A’s Village Head, and members of the BGC management team.

BGC, through its Project Amali, was honored to present donations to 12 orphans in the form of “Eidiya”— raised through its internal donation drive among BGC staff. With Project Amali, BGC aims to inculcate the spirit of benevolence among BGC staff and at the same time align with Project Amali’s objectives to aid, interact and build relationships with the local communities.

Pg Shamhary during the event remarked that, BGC is ever so grateful and privileged to be able to continue carrying out its annual charitable deeds under Project Amali—working closely with the Village Councils of Mukim Labi and Mukim Jerudong to carry out its donation drives and cemetery cleaning campaign in the past few weeks.

BGC will continue to sustain its efforts to improve its communities’ welfare and development, under its Project Amali initiatives, working together to build a thriving, empowered, and resilient community.

BGC Return To Labi For Project Amali 2022

In the spirit of Ramadhan, Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) as part of its Social Investment initiative, returned to Mukim Labi for the 9th installment of Project Amali, led by BGC’s People Manager, Md Khairol Amilin Hj Maidin.

BGC firmly believes that the most effective social investment initiatives are ones that build value, especially in terms of demonstrating commitment to economic and social development, thereby allowing us to foster strong ties with the local communities in which our business operates.

This year, BGC is humbled to be able to provide assistance to five identified families from Kampong Labi, to help alleviate some of their burdens and empathise with their situation—especially so during the current COVID-19 pandemic. During the handover, Md Khairol Amlin remarked that he, on behalf of the Company and staff that made donations, is thankful that we could all contribute and lend a helping hand to these families of the Labi community, especially during the month of Ramadhan. He hopes that with the food provisions and other essential items, the families can improve their well-being and help to lighten their burden.

We at BGC would like to extend our appreciation to the Penghulu of Mukim Labi for the unwavering support in delivering project Amali each year for the well-being of our beloved Labi community. All the volunteers have learned a valuable lesson concerning the difficulties faced by the families residing in the area and are happy to contribute towards such an important and gratifying cause. BGC looks to build on this year’s Project Amali by expanding its reach and connecting with more communities in Brunei Darussalam.

Children Aged 5-11 Years Receive Oyen Badge As Reward For Vaccination

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) as part of its Social Investment (SI) initiative and in support of the National Vaccination Programme for children aged 5-11 years old, collaborated with the Ministry of Health (MOH) to produce a special button badge featuring “Oyen”, donning the BGC Captain uniform.

With around 50,000 children expected to take the COVID-19 jab, we at BGC wanted to give the children something to smile about, especially to incentivise their bravery in overcoming the fear of taking the injection.

On 11th April 2022, an official handover ceremony was held at the MOH for the exclusive delivery of BGC x MOH x Oyen Button Badges, presented by BGC’s Acting Managing Director, Captain Abdul Mateen Abdurrahman Liew, to YM Tuan Awang Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health. A total of 5,000 button badges were handed over to the MOH, with another 20,000 button badges to be delivered at a later date.

The first batch of button badges has already been distributed at the National Indoor Stadium, however, please rest assured that all 6 of the designated vaccination centres will also be issuing the limited edition button badges.
