BGC was honoured to join the celebration of the IMO International Day for Women in Maritime hosted by the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam (MPABD).
The celebration, held at the Lamin Warisan Heritage House in Tutong, brought together female employees from various organisations of the maritime sector to join together for a traditional dish cook-off activity.
The theme for this year: Safe Horizons – Women Shaping the Future of Maritime Safety celebrates women in the industry and is intended to promote the recruitment, retention and sustained employment of women in the maritime sector, raise the profile of women in maritime, strengthen IMO’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (gender equality) and support work to address the current gender imbalance in maritime.

Menjunjung Kasih atas keberangkatan Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah Ibni Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Menteri Kanan di Jabatan Perdana Menteri.
BGC was honoured to jointly host a Muhibah Raya event graced by His Royal Highness as the guest of honour on 17th April 2024 at the Indera Samudera Banquet Hall, The Empire Hotel.
The joint Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration was a collaboration between BGC along with the Brunei Shell Venture (BSJV) Companies, Shell Deepwater Borneo and Shell Exploration & Production Brunei.
Also present were Cabinet Ministers, foreign dignitaries, senior officials from the government and private sectors, academic officials, and non-governmental organisations, together with the Managing Directors of the six host companies.
The event aimed to foster closer relationships and togetherness, embodying the spirit of unity and goodwill, while also reflecting the scale of impact and contributions of the oil and gas industry to Brunei Darussalam’s economy and ecosystem.
BGC was proud to showcase some of their Social Investment programmes, such as their flagship ‘Project Amali’ and ‘Clean Rivers, Clean Seas’, which aims to work with communities and stakeholders on sustainable initiatives focusing on the themes of community and youth development, environment, education, health and entrepreneurship development.

In order to reap the benefits of the holy month, #TeamBGC continued its efforts with a Majlis Doa Kesyukuran and Tahlil Ceremony in conjunction with BGC’s 26th Anniversary held at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Jerudong. BGC was honored to share this blessing and joy with the presence of orphaned children of Kg Jerudong A & B and underprivileged students from SMARTER Brunei.
In attendance at the event were the Village Heads of Kampong Jerudong A and B, and the Director of Clinical Practice of SMARTER Brunei.
It was a heartfelt moment to see smiles on the faces of 54 orphans and 8 SMARTER students as we handed monetary donations, exclusively contributed by the employees of BGC. BGC hopes the contributions in some way bring festive excitement to the children and their families.
As we celebrate the spirit of Ramadhan, let us all continue to make the most of this sacred month a time for unity and generosity, and further your cause by supporting those in need.
