Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) celebrated the refinancing of its esteemed fleet vessels, Arkat and Amali, on Tuesday, 26th September 2023 at the BGC Office, in Jerudong. The event was to commemorate a significant milestone in BGC’s history as it marks the first occasion that a local bank, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), is the sole financier of approximately USD 149M for both vessels.
BGC Managing Director, Captain Abdul Mateen Abdurrahman Liew in his welcoming remarks stated, “The refinancing of the Arkat and Amali vessels makes a significant contribution to the local economy. Not only does this agreement benefit the nation as a whole, but it also aligns with Brunei’s Vision 2035, which aims to establish a dynamic and sustainable economy for the country. This financing is in line with the aspirations set forth in Brunei’s Vision 2035.”
Present at the event was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Awang Junaidi bin Haji Masri, Managing Director and CEO of Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and representatives from Mitsubishi Corporation, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Brunei LNG and other stakeholders.
