BGC Takes Part In Brunei Mid-Year Conference & Exhibition

Brunei Gas Carriers (BGC) recognise that carbon management is essential to counter the climate change implications of the world’s energy use. As Brunei’s leading Deepwater shipping company we play our part through improvements of our operational energy efficiency and adoption of compliant technologies.

Last week, BGC in collaboration with Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) and Brunei LNG (BLNG) participated in the launch of the Energy-themed week held under the Brunei Mid-Year Conference & Exhibition (MYCE) 2021. Headlined “Energy Transition: Towards a Sustainable Future”, the week-long event aims to raise awareness on energy-efficiency, and share key initiatives to reduce Brunei’s carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

At the BGC booth, BGC’s 3rd Officers, Nurul Siti Shahrinah Binti Shahrolwardi and Ahmad Wafri Izzat Bin Zainal Arshad, shared important insights on the propulsion systems deployed on 4 of BGC’s vessels, called Dual Fuel Diesel Electric Engines (DFDE). All four vessels are powered by DFDE engines which run on LNG as the main fuel, thereby producing lower and cleaner emissions.

During the launching ceremony, BGC, led by the Managing Director, Pg Shamhary Pg Dato Haji Mustapha, welcomed the visit from the Guest of Honours, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny Bin Haji Mohd Hussein, Minister of Energy and Industry, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali Bin Apong, Minister Of Primary Resources And Tourism, and spoke about BGC’s commitment on lowering carbon and greenhouse gas emissions, and adopting modern solutions to support Brunei Darussalam’s aspirations of achieving carbon neutrality.
