One of the Sunnahs of Prophet Muhammad during the holy month of Ramadan is to care for and celebrate orphans, as emphasized in the hadith:
“The one who cares for an orphan and I will be like this in Paradise (and he held his two fingers together (the index and middle fingers) to illustrate their closeness.” -Sahih al-Bukhari.
This year, the event continued with Majlis Doa Kesyukuran and Tahlil Ceremony in conjunction with BGC’s 27th Anniversary held at Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Jerudong. BGC was honored to share this blessing and joy with the presence of orphaned children of former BGC staff, orphan Kg Jerudong A & B and underprivileged students from SMARTER Brunei.
Among those in attendance were BGC’s former Managing Directors, the Village Heads of Kampong Jerudong A and B, and the Vice President of SMARTER Brunei.
At the event, smiles were seen on the faces of 80 recipients as we handed monetary donations, exclusively contributed by the employees of BGC. BGC hopes that these contributions bring some festive excitement to the children and their families with the arrival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
