Brunei Gas Carriers Sdn Bhd (BGC) hosted its second installment of RAKAN for existing and registered vendors on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at the Serambi Suluh Hall, Terindak D’Seni, Brunei Arts and Handicraft Center.
RAKAN, which stands for Raising Awareness, Knowledge and Networking was attended by over 150 guests which included existing and registered vendors, iUsahawan participants and BGC staff. The main purpose of the event was to foster good relations, and promote dialogue on the themes of optimization, innovation and digitalisation.
In her speech, Pg Dianawaty Pg Matzin, BGC’s Contracts and Procurement Manager stated, “We look to our business partners, to work together with us to identify potential synergies in how we conduct business via optimization, innovation and digitalization opportunities – all while promoting In Country Value. Ultimately, our objective is in ensuring that we not only achieve our License to Operate, but to achieve it with excellence”.
Pg Diana also welcomed BGC’s iUsahawan participants in attendance. In her remarks she mentioned, “As part of our ongoing commitment towards promoting In-Country Value, we are pleased to support the iUsahawan initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry to identify opportunities for young, local entrepreneurs and facilitate capacity development of these entrepreneurs that meet the iUsahawan criteria.”
Several booths were available for business partners to engage with the RAKAN focal points to explore potential opportunities in the key themes mentioned earlier. There were booths on In Country Value, which included a feature on an online platform that would allow participating local businesses to access the global shipping industry, HSSE, Business Ethics, Business Opportunities and Procure to Pay process.
RAKAN is an initiative in line with BGC’s Social Performance commitment to continuously engage stakeholders, in this instance with BGC’s existing and registered vendors.
